Next Saturday: WTC Game Night

We’re holding the first of what I hope will be many WTC Game Nights this Saturday, May 8.

Games on our list include: the StarCraft 2 beta, Counter-Strike: Source, Left 4 Dead 2, and maybe a few rounds of Half-Life 2 Deathmatch if we’re not too exhausted.

We’ll have a Ventrilo server set up. It should be a good time.

More details to come as we draw closer!

The rumors were true: Black Ops, the newest entry in the legendary Call of Duty series, is coming to market this November.

G4TV: 38 Infinity Ward Employees Suing Activision

G4TV is reporting that 38 past and present Infinity Ward employees have filed a massive lawsuit against Activision. The employees claim that the company breached contract and withheld Modern Warfare 2 royalty payments in an attempt to hold developers “hostage” while they worked on Modern Warfare 3.

Activision, of course, is claiming that the case has no merit.

It’s going to be years before this is all sorted out.

Infinity Ward Insider: Studio Is “Dead” and Activision Management Is “Scared Shitless”

Kotaku spoke with an insider at Infinity Ward recently. Apparently, the proverbial shit has hit the fan at the studio responsible for the obscenely popular Modern Warfare following Activision’s firing of company heads Jason West and Vince Zampella. Close to a dozen top developers have left the company since West and Zampella were fired and Activision’s managers are “scared shitless” according to the source that spoke to Kotaku.

It sounds like we’re never going to see another decent Infinity Ward game again at this rate. Sad news, really. I quite enjoyed both of the Modern Warfare stories.

Oh, yes. Hell yes.

F.E.3.R. (Or F.E.A.R. 3 – Who Knows?)

F.E.3.R. (or F.E.A.R. 3, according to the press release) is in fact under development… but Monolith Studios isn’t at the helm this time around. Instead, Day One Studios is working with publisher Warner Bros. Interactive to bring the game, which will focus heavily on a new co-op model, to life. Day One is responsible for MechAssault, MechAssault 2, and Fracture.

Perhaps more interesting than the fact that a new F.E.A.R. title is in the works, however, is the fact that legendary horror director John Carpenter is working with 30 Days of Night writer Steve Niles to make the game even scarier than it would otherwise be. Anything would be better than the horrid second installment in the series.

Activision Has Already Sold More than 2.5 Million Copies of the Modern Warfare 2 “Stimulus Package”

$37,500,000

That’s how much money Activision has made on the Xbox 360 version of the first map pack for Modern Warfare 2. The PC and PS3 versions release on May 4. They’re easily going to surpass $75,000,000 in sales at this rate.

That’s a lot of money for a couple of rehashed maps from the first Modern Warfare and a few exceptionally weak new additions – especially considering the fact that the game is absolutely broken due to rampant cheating.

Bungie Reveals More On Halo: Reach Multiplayer, Basically Copies Red Faction: Guerrilla

Bungie revealed more about jetpacks, weapon loadouts, and combat strategies in a huge weekly update on Halo: Reach multiplayer. If you ask me, it’s starting to look like a giant clone of the multiplayer from Red Faction: Guerrilla.

F.3.A.R.

An unnamed Spanish gaming magazine apparently has the world exclusive on F.3.A.R., the third proper entry in the martial arts enhanced horror shooter created by Monolith Productions.

The first F.E.A.R. was a critically acclaimed success but the series has since been plagued with poorly made “expansions” and a rather lame sequel that barely made a blip on the gaming radar – even with the support a rather large marketing campaign.

The executives at Warner Brothers, the series’ publisher, refuse to confirm (or deny) anything at this time but the poor quality scan seen at left looks legitimate to me. Details are expected soon.

One of the Left 4 Dead Characters Won’t Survive “The Passing” DLC Campaign

According to a recent announcement by the developers, one of the original four Left 4 Dead characters won’t survive The Passing, the new DLC campaign coming soon to Left 4 Dead 2. The interesting part, however, is that you choose who dies. The death will also tie back to the recently announced DLC campaign being added to the first game in the series. In that campaign, you’ll play through the events leading up to the death.
