Battlefield 1943 PC Version Launches Out of Nowhere
EA has made some odd moves in recent years but perhaps the strangest was their mostly silent launch of the PC port of Battlefield 1943 yesterday.
They didn’t even bother with an advertisement or a marketing campaign for the game. It’s simply available for download via the EA store.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam Addon at TGS Next Week
EA will unveil the first add-on for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 next week at the annual Tokyo Game Show. The campaign is set in Vietnam this time around, which seems like a big risk for EA to take considering how big of a flop Battlefield: Vietnam was. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they have in store.

Halo: Reach – Deliver Hope
This is the extended cut of the Halo: Reach “Deliver Hope” trailer. You can say what you want about the series and its developers. There’s no denying that their advertisements are awesome. A full length movie needs to happen.
Medal of Honor: Apache Chopper Footage
Medal of Honor is going to be excellent based on the media released thus far. The graphics are crisp, the gameplay looks engaging, and the sound is phenomenal. I look forward to a real challenger to the Call of Duty series emerging.
Novint Falcon Pistol Grip Game Controller
This is one of the most interesting game controllers I’ve ever seen. I want one.
It’s not as expensive as you might think, either!

Call of Duty: Black Ops to Feature “Offline Multiplayer”
Mark Lamia, CEO of Treyarch, says that Call of Duty: Black Ops will feature an AI based “offline multiplayer” mode designed to teach players how to handle the rigors of online play.
The offline mode will feature its own dedicated progression and achievement system and will cater to newbies and veterans alike.
In other words, they’ve added bot support to the game. Holy shit. This is amazing. I wonder if they’re going to add “aimbot” and “wall hack” options?

Vanquish Demo Coming September 2nd
Vanquish, the new futuristic shooter from SEGA and Platinum Games, gets the demo treatment on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 2nd. The demo features a prologue sequence that concludes with some sort of boss fight.
The full game, which director Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame) says is already finished and ready to play, releases on October 19.
Here’s the synopsis from the game’s official site, in case you haven’t been following this one:
Russia and the United States are vying for ownership of the world’s fast-depleting energy resources and the US has constructed a space station in order to harness energy from the sun. Russian forces capture this space station and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, aiming to force the US into a total and unconditional surrender. In response, the US tasks its armed forces with recapturing the space station before the Russians can annihilate their next target – New York.
I’m stoked about this one. I posted one of the trailers a while back. It looks like it’s going to push new boundaries, graphics-wise.

Doom IV: Under Development
Although there was no big reveal for Doom IV at QuakeCon this year, id Software’s CEO Todd Hollenshead confirms that the game is not only under development but that the team working on the fourth installment in the iconic series is actually larger than the one they have working on Rage. It’s targeted for simultaneous release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. No official release date has been announced.
