Wii U Tech Demo
This was the official tech demo used during this morning’s Wii U presentation. Needless to say, this thing is a bit of a beast.
Nintendo Unveils the Wii U
Nintendo pulled back the curtains on their next console this morning during their big E3 presentation. It’s called – no joke – the Wii U.
Featuring one of the most insane looking controllers ever created for a video game system, this is a next-gen system with some serious power and potential. Details on the components used in the console itself aren’t available at this time. However, the console has 1080p; has HDMI out, internal flash memory, SD and USB storage support.
The controller, however, is another story. Here’s what we know about it so far: it features an accelerometer, a gyroscope, rumble functionality, a front-facing camera, a microphone, and speakers. The button configuration resembles that of the Wii’s Classic Controller: two analog Circle Pads, a D-pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR triggers.
Nintendo Naming Next Console Nintendo?
There’s a rumor circulating this weekend that Nintendo has a simple plan for the name of their next console: they may simply be calling it a Nintendo.
We’ll find out for sure on Tuesday morning during their big E3 press conference.
Nintendo to Release Zelda MMO?
The ESRB just gave a rating of E (Everyone) for a new Zelda game called Zelda Universe. But that’s not nearly as interesting as the categorization, which is “online”. In other words, we may be talking about a Zelda MMO, here.
At the Game Developers Conference this year, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata made it a point to mention that something “big” was being planned to mark the 25th anniversary of the Zelda franchise. This is obviously it.
Chip Maestro
An ambitious modder named Jarek Lupinski is working on turning the original NES into a synthesizer via a specialized cartridge called the Chip Maestro. He’s already got himself a working prototype and he’s trying to fund the project through Kickstarter.
If you’re at all interested in making music – especially chiptune sounds – be sure to take a look at this and consider tossing your support behind the project. It’s only $50!
New Nintendo Has 8GB Storage, Uses 25GB Optical Discs
A new rumor floating around about the next Nintendo console has the system’s internal storage capacity pegged at a mere 8GB and another says that store-bought games will be distributed on optical discs with a maximum capacity of 25GB. Interesting numbers.
Mario + Portal = Epic Win
I desperately want someone to turn this into an actual video game.
