Codemasters, the game developer behind fantastic racing franchises like GRID and DiRT, is apparently facing hard times. They’re going to have to let go of up to 80 employees across several divisions as a result. However, a rep for the company says that the downsizing won’t impact the quality or release schedule of upcoming GRID and F1 sequels.
I really hope these guys survive. They make some of the best racing games out there.
Someone fed a mountain of technical information about the PS4 to Eurogamer. The system will supposedly feature a 1.6GHz eight-core CPU, 4GB of GDDR5 RAM, and 512MB of OS dedicated memory. No word yet on graphics, however a Radeon 7970M is expected.
In other words, Sony may in fact have their shit together this time. I’m still doubtful, myself.
Bethesda has finally overcome the issues they had porting DLC for the PS3 version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The official PlayStation blog is reporting that all three expansions (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn) are due out sometime in the February.
And as if that’s not big enough news on its own, Bethesda has confirmed that they’re slashing prices by 50% at launch as an apology for the horrendous delays PS3 fans have endured!
In related news, the PC version of Dragonborn is coming February 5th.
Hiroshi Sakamoto, VP of Sony Home Entertainment, apparently told a Chilean news site at CES this past week that Sony will showcase the PS4 at E3 2013. He also says they may in fact announce the console ahead of the show. Both claims contradict statements from other Sony execs over the past few months, however, so it’s hard to tell what’s true.
This would come as no surprise given that Microsoft is bringing a new Xbox to the show, of course. In fact, it would be a bit of a shock if this turned out not to be true.
The first DLC for Black Ops 2 lets you play as the zombies, among other things.
In a move that’s sure to send chills down the spines of Gamestop executives, Sony has filed a patent on technology designed to suppress used game sales by simply preventing you from playing a used game in your console. Yes, that’s right; you probably won’t be able to buy used games for the PS4, whenever it’s released. This isn’t surprising in the slightest.
Sony shipped what it says is the final batch of PlayStation 2 consoles in Japan today.
This is the end of an era. More than 150 million PS2 units have been sold worldwide since its release in 2000. There are more than 3,000 games in the PS2 library.
It will be interesting to see how much a working PS2 sells for twenty years from now.
This is shaping up to be a really awesome looking game.
The three best Hitman games - Silent Assassin, Contracts and Blood Money - will be re-released next month as the Hitman HD Trilogy for Xbox 360 and PS3.
The pack will retail for just $39.99 and that includes an exclusive art book.
The only regret I have about dumping my PS3 is that I won’t get to play this game.
