Bloomberg is reporting that Xbox boss turned Zynga CEO Don Mattrick tried to convince his former employer to buy the mobile gaming giant as far back as 2010.
I don’t even want to think about the new hell that would have created on Xbox Live.
Mattrick’s decision to go with Zynga puts EA back at “square one” in its search.
I really don’t understand why Mattrick would pick Zynga over EA.
Microsoft has finally expanded the surprisingly decent Spotify-esque Xbox Music platform beyond the Xbox itself. It’s now available as a web service.
If you sign up right now you get a 30 day free trial. Not bad.
It turns out that former Xbox boss Don Mattrick stepped down from his position to take over as the new CEO of Zynga because he was going to get bumped, anyway.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Sony tries to undercut them here, too.
Blizzard just announced that Diablo III lands on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3rd. It’s a bit jarring to see box art. This will be Blizzard’s first console title since StarCraft 64.
Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer advised gamers during a recent interview with Gamespot to hang on to their Xbox 360 if they want to play XBLA games.
That’s right – not even XBLA games are going to be backwards compatible. Wow.
EA confirmed today that Battlefield 4 is out on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 on October 29th. They also announced China Rising, the first piece of BF4 DLC.
Yes, seriously. They’re announcing DLC already. It’s a pre-order bonus. But it’s still DLC.
The Verge is reporting that Microsoft plans to dump the Xbox Points system in favor of a new and far more efficient system for digital purchases: regular old cash and gift cards.
Seriously, Microsoft. Why did it take you this long to realize how lame a points system is?
